Vernon Martin, Jr.

Vernon "Vern" "Marty" Martin, Jr., 78, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021. He was born January 23, 1943 to Vernon and Elouise (Ussery) Martin in Norwood, MO.

Vernon owned Martin Design, a business that designed plumbing and HVAC systems.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack L. Martin; and brother-in-law, Rick Abbey. Vernon is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shelley Martin; sons, Zach Cates and Josh Cates; brother, Jim L. (Rosemary) Martin; brother-in-law, Kelley (Kim) Abbey; sister-in-law, Vicki Martin; nieces, Susan (David) Martin Wilson and Kim (Paul) Martin Spink; and nephews, Steve (Nancy) Martin and Scott (Eva) Martin. He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews; loving cousins; and numerous longtime friends and colleagues who have enjoyed his tremendous sense of humor and loyal generosity throughout his lifetime. Vernon was definitely a "one of a kind" type of guy.

A private family memorial graveside service will take place at Branson Cemetery 11200 E 47th Street S Derby, Kansas 67037.
