Thongsouk Southam, 65, passed away at 11:11 am on May 7, 2025. She was born December 10, 1959 Vientiane, Laos.
Thongsouk(Souk) came to the United States from Vientiane, Laos in 1980 for a better life for her, her husband and 3 year old daughter. As time evolved she grew a family adding another daughter and a son. Everything she did was for them. She loved to fish, camp, be outside and cook. She was an amazing cook. It could be a fish out of the local river, caught the same day or fishies her nephew requested for his restaurants. It was her egg rolls that were famous. There is no description unless you have had them. Souk was always there for everyone; she went to all the Laotian Temple, blessings, houses and events. She was a huge presence in the Laotian Community. After her husband passed in 2017 she traveled, saw the world and experienced things she had never done before. In the end and still into passing, she left no space for judgement, comparison or negativity. When you saw her, she had a smile ready for you, or food. Now she gets to join her husband on that beautiful dock, fishing, drinking Pepsi and fighting over who caught the biggest fish!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vanh Southam in 2017. Thongsouk is survived by her children, Saovany Carasco, Sheri Sams and Jesse Southam; and grandson, Vincent Leet Southam.
