Thoeun Pho, age 79, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on April 3, 1946, in Battambang, Cambodia, to Keo and Thao Pho.
Thoeun’s life was a testament to resilience, sacrifice, and unconditional love. Alongside her devoted husband, Chhom Chan, she endured and overcame unimaginable hardships—surviving the Khmer Rouge regime, fleeing a war-torn homeland, and spending time in the Khao I Dang Refugee Camp and later in the Philippines before finding a new beginning in the United States in 1983. Through courage and perseverance, she and her husband built a foundation of hope, giving their children and grandchildren the opportunity for a brighter future.
Known for her kindness and generosity, Thoeun welcomed everyone into her home with warmth and an open heart. If you visited, you were never a stranger—and never left hungry. Her kitchen and garden were her sacred spaces, where she poured her love into every meal and tended to every plant with care. She found joy in simple pleasures—gardening, watching Khmer-dubbed Chinese and Thai dramas, and most of all, spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Chhom Chan; her children Kenny Phina Chan & Pinna Say and family, Noeu Chan & Kimberly Chan and family, Lena S. Chan & Sam Touch and family, and Veassna Chan and family; grandchildren Sonida Chan, Kirsten Rogers Chan, Ellysia Masoner, Devon Chan, Jessena Mean Touch, Aidan Chan, Jaden Chan, Jaren Touch, Jasen Touch, Nolan Chan, Jazzlyn Chan, Jake Chan, and Nelson Chan; and great-grandchildren Kylan Masoner, Alaina Masoner, and Catalina Silva.
She is also survived by her siblings Thong Pho (older brother), Phoeun Pho (younger sister), Phen Pho (younger sister), Rodney Tha Pho (younger brother), Savoeun Pho (younger brother), and Saphan Pho (youngest sister), and was preceded in death by her younger brother, Bunthay Keo.
Her generosity, gentle spirit, and deep love for her family will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
