Tho Phuoc Tran, age 68, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, whose legacy of hard work, resilience, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Born on August 17, 1956 in Saigon, Vietnam, Tho Tran came to the United States as a refugee after the Vietnam War, in search of greater opportunities and a better life for his family. With determination and perseverance, he built a life rooted in integrity, sacrifice, and hard work.
Tho Tran was a multi-talented man with skills in electrical work, carpentry, remodeling, auto mechanics, and plumbing. He was a lifelong learner who deeply valued education and practical skills, and he passed that passion onto his children.
Over the years, he held many roles, including positions in teaching, the food service industry, management, accounting, finance, and in aviation. Regardless of his title, he approached every job with humility, intelligence, and a dedication to excellence. His coworkers admired his problem-solving skills and his ability to do anything with his hands and mind.
Above all else, family was the center of Tho’s life. He was a loving husband to Hung Khoan Tran (nee: La) for 41 years, and a proud father to Tam Thanh-Tran Clark and Kiet Anh Tran. He cherished his time with his children, siblings, nieces, and nephews, always encouraging them to study hard, be kind, and pursue their goals. He led by example, showing that success is built on sacrifice, faith, and the willingness to never give up.
Tho is survived by Hung Khoan Tran, Tam (Edward) Clark, Kiet (Lisa) Tran, and extended family members across the United States and Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his parents: Tuoc My Tran and Trinh Kim Truong. Additionally, he will rest with his siblings who passed before.
Tho Phuoc Tran will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and gentle, loving way he treated everyone around him. A naturally sociable person, he had the gift for making others feel welcome, whether through a warm smile, an easy conversation, or a shared laugh that could brighten any room. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the lessons he quietly taught by example.
The family respectfully requests that no monetary donations be made.
