Richard "Ricky" Folgate, 39, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 31, 1986 to Ricky "Rick" and Katherine "Kathy" (Long) Folgate at Landstuhl Army Base, Germany.
Ricky worked as a freelance computer technician. He had a huge, lifelong love for computers and tech, whether he was doing repairs for family and friends, helping his friends build a new computer, or playing online games with his beloved gaming community.
Ricky belonged to a close group of friends located across the U.S. and abroad, who stayed connected through their mutual love of gaming. He touched the lives of many people everywhere with his kind, easygoing personality, ready smile, and sense of humor.
His family will remember his love for Monster Truck shows with his Dad, Riverfest and the Kansas State Fair, and how every year he couldn’t wait to get the newest Guinness Book of World Records to read. Bucket hats, rock concerts, and always playing as Yoshi in Mario Kart are a few more things that made Ricky, Ricky. He was captivated by outer space and fascinated with the limitless possibilities of the unknown.
Ricky was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his parents; his sister, Laura (Calvin) Hock; and several aunts and uncles, as well as many loving friends.
