Larry Ray Pierce, 81, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully under hospice care on July 2, 2026.

He was born on January 25, 1945, in Wichita, Kansas, to the late Ray Otis Pierce and Betty Sue Moore Pierce.

Larry graduated from East High School in 1963. Soon after, he joined the United States Navy, serving six years on active duty as a sonar technician and completing several tours in Vietnam. He continued his service in the United States Navy Reserve, retiring in 2001 after 28 total years of dedicated service to his country.

In civilian life, Larry became well known in the autobody industry, working as both a painter and estimator. He retired in 2008 and enjoyed his later years working on puzzles, tending to his expansive flower, fruit, and vegetable gardens, and assisting his wife with her craft shows.

Above all, his greatest joy was his family. He spoke of each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with immense pride and love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sibling, and one stepdaughter.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Lola Mae Pierce; his children, daughter Kimberly Pierce-Smith and son Jason Pierce; stepdaughter Mary Price and stepson Daniel Pritchett; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service

A private memorial service will be held with family only. Public service will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Larry’s memory.
