Jennifer Jeannine (Berk) Haney

Jennifer Jeannine “Jenny” (Berk) Haney, 46, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025. She was born December 20, 1978, to Clarence George “Terry” and Wanda Sue (Burleson) Berk in Lawton, OK.

Jenny grew up on the Artillery Base at Fort Sill, OK, and Churchville, MD, before moving to Wichita, KS, where she attended 2nd-12th grade. Jenny was active in dance and gymnastics, leading to a scholarship to attend Coffeyville Community College and Butler Community College. She then met the love of her life, Patrick Michael (Pat) Haney, an airman at McConnell Air Force Base. During her time at Butler, she gave birth to her first-born daughter Lynet Danielle (Dani) Berk. Jenny and Pat wed on May 20th, 2000. They created a beautiful family, having two more daughters, Tatum Loraine and Alyssa Michelle Haney. While living in Altus, OK, she attended Cameron University, where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in education. In 2024, Jenny continued her education at Fort Hays State University, acquiring an additional master’s degree in history. She taught history at Wichita South High School for the entirety of her 18-year teaching career. She always told her family she loved teaching because she felt as if each of her students were her own children, creating lasting bonds with many over the years.

Jenny was preceded in death by her father Terry Berk and sister Cindy Berk. She is survived by her husband of 24 years Pat Haney and their daughters; Dani Berk, Tatum Haney, and Alyssa Haney of Derby, KS. Her mother Wanda Sue Berk of Wichita, KS, and brothers George (Jolynn) Berk of Forney, TX and John (Tina) Berk of Wichita KS. Nephews Colton (Katie) Berk, their children Easton and Emry Berk of Hutchinson, KS, Cutter (Maria) Berk of Wichita, KS, and Owen (Kaitlyn) Berk and their child Brodie Berk of Forney, TX. Nieces Jassie Berk of Miami, OK, and Hannah Berk of Wichita, KS.

Memorial Service: 2 pm, Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Pleasant Valley Methodist Church, 1600 W. 27th St North, Wichita, KS 67204. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas Honor Flight, P.O. Box 2371, Hutchinson, KS 67504.
