Jeff Lane Marshall, 66, passed away on May 7, 2025. Born on February 2, 1959, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he was the son of Lawrence and Donata (Wagner) Marshall and the younger brother of Jane Davis.
Jeff was married to the love of his life, Kathleen “Kat” Marshall, for 32 years. Together, they built a life full of laughter, love, and shared adventures. He was a devoted father to his children, Jeff Jr. and Audrey, and took immense pride in supporting their dreams and ambitions.
Jeff had a gift for storytelling, the kind of stories that made you laugh, think, and always stay a little longer. He never met a stranger, striking up conversation anywhere. His natural warmth and curiosity drew people in, whether it was a quick chat at the grocery store or a long conversation on a cross-country road trip.
Jeff took great pride in his work. Regardless of the job, he always showed up with integrity, determination, and an incredible work ethic that he took with him everywhere he went.
He had a wide range of interests and a deep appreciation for learning. Jeff was especially passionate about weather and natural disasters, always keeping up with the latest forecasts and science behind the events. He was always interested in learning more about American history and could often be found sharing something new he’d discovered.
Jeff loved classic rock music, especially the kind that came on the radio during long drives. He had a knack for knowing every artist and song, and he’d often quiz his family: “Who’s this singing?” or “What year do you think this came out?” It became a playful tradition, one of many ways he brought fun into everyday moments.
Jeff had a passion for cars and motorcycles. He worked on cars throughout his life, always quick to get under the hood, fix a problem, or just tinker. One of his greatest joys was riding and maintaining his motorcycle in his younger years, which gave him a sense of freedom and pride. His passion for engines and the open road was something he carried with him always.
He spent many years of his life going to the gym, continually pushing the limits and pursuing his own powerlifting goals.
He was a lifelong fan of college sports, especially the Oklahoma Sooners, Northwestern Wildcats, and Oklahoma State Cowboys. Fall weekends were often spent watching football while in the Spring he would watch softball.
Jeff had a gentle heart for all creatures. He loved dogs, watched birds feed outside his window daily and also took care of stray cats, raccoons, opossums, and ducks that wandered onto the front porch. Even though he spent most of his life with dogs, he adored his daughter’s cats, Atticus and Oliver.
More than anything, Jeff was dependable and present. You could always count on him to pick up the phone, whether you needed to vent, share good news, or simply hear a familiar voice. He’d check in when he hadn’t heard from you in a while. He showed up, he listened, and he made you feel like what you said mattered. He had a special talent for building you up and allowing you to believe in yourself, even when you didn’t. He could make you feel safe and secure in your most fragile moments. When you felt like the weight of the world was on your shoulders, he'd be there to help you carry it in any way that he could. Jeff had a good heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Donata Marshall.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Kathleen Marshall; his children, Jeff Jr. and Audrey Marshall; and his sister, Jane Davis. He also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him for his humor, kindness, and the way he could bring energy and brighten every room he stepped into.
A private family service was held on Thursday, May 15th.
