Billy Joe Yates, 72, loving husband and father, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born November 12, 1948 to Denver and Edna (Stubbs) Yates in St. Genevive, MO.

Billy retired from the Navy and the Sedgwick County Sheriffs Department. He loved fishing, camping, going to the casino, a home-cooked meal, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs. Billy was known for helping people in their time of need. He was truly loved and will be truly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Billy is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Wanda; children, Sherry (Montie) Daugherty and Larry Mosley; brothers, Harold (Sharon) Yates and Everette Yates; a large extended family; and many friends.

Visitation: Thursday, November 11, 2021, from 3 to 8 pm with family present between 5 & 7 pm. Funeral: 2 pm, Friday, November 12, 2021, both at Reflection Pointe Funeral & Cremation Services, 3201 S. Webb Rd., Wichita, KS 67210. Interment to follow at Reflection Pointe Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
