Ruby Millspaugh

January 26, 1920 — December 1, 2006

Millspaugh, Ruby Cynthia, passed away surrounded by her family on December 1, 2006 and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The celebration of her life is Monday, December 4, 2006 at 2 PM, Watson Funeral Home. Viewing for family and friends is Sunday, December 3, 2006 from 4 to 6 PM. She was born the daughter of Loyd and Tillie Evans, January 26, 1920 and lived with her beloved Grandmother Minnie Paulsen. She moved to Wichita with her Grandmother to attend North High School in Wichita. After high school graduation she went to work with Hellum’s Furniture as the Executive Secretary to Loyd Millspaugh. Ten months later Ruby Evans and Loyd Millspaugh married in Kansas City, Kansas in August of 1943. When Ruby and Loyd began to have a family, Ruby decided to be a stay at home Mom with her three children, Mary Ellen, Janice Elaine and Rolla Loyd III. After the children were older, she went back to work part-time for Innes’s Department Store in its accounting division and quickly rose to the rank of supervisor. Over the years as her professional skills were honed at several public accounting firms, she opened her own accounting practice, Professional Business Systems, Inc. With little more than a desk and telephone she and Loyd built their accounting practice into a successful business. In later years she sold the business to one of her competitors for whom she then worked. She retired in 1989 after many years in Wichita as a public accountant. In 1993, Ruby and Loyd celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Shortly after their anniversary, Ruby became a caregiver to her ailing mother Tillie Hadley and then her husband Loyd. Always the loving, giving and caring person, she took care of them both until they passed away in 1994 and 1995. Her later years were spent being involved in her church, Metropolitan Baptist and Christian Women’s Club East of Wichita, where she had many friends and was actively involved serving on the board. She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband Rolla Loyd Millspaugh, Jr, son Rolla Loyd III, Mother Tillie Hadley, and her sister Myrtle Laeger. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lacy (Bob) of Wichita and Janice Miller (Barry) of Poquoson, Virginia and many wonderful nieces and nephews. A memorial has been established with Metropolitan Baptist Church, 525 W. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67211 and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
