Gerald S. Wing, age 80, former City of Mulvane Mayor from 1991 - 1995 and Kohl’s Department Store Cashier, passed away Christmas Day. The visitation with the family and the Celebration of Life Services will be from 6 - 8 PM Tuesday in the Garden Chapel of Watson Reflection Pointe, 3201 S. Webb Road, Wichita. Gerald was the second son of the late Ralph and Esther Wing of Camargo, OK. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Werner Wing and an older brother, DeWayne Wing. Survived by his loving family, his wife of 51 years, Sophie, daughter, Paula Rhodes, granddaughter, Becky Enriquez, grandson, Preston Rhodes, brother, Pete (Pam) Wing, sister, Leah Marie (Bill) Fairchild and many other friends and relatives. He played Santa for his grandkids and at the Derby Senior Center. He was an entertainer and enjoyed playing piano & organ. He worked at Kohls in Derby as a cashier since they opened. He loved the job and was very dependable and was affectionately known as “the King of Credit.” He would do anything for anyone, no task was to difficult, He was a handyman and fixer. He passed away at home with his wife by his side after a 6 month battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with American Cancer Society, 818 N. Emporia #100, Wichita, KS 67214. A stepping stone at the Crystal Cathedral in Orange County, California reads as follows with a prayer: Gerald and Sophie Wing, Mulvane, Kansas.
