Barbara Montgomery

Barbara Lee Truskett Montgomery of Wichita, Kansas went to join with her Lord on Saturday, August 17th after courageously battling cancer for over a year.

Barbara graduated from El Dorado High School in 1964. She attended classes at Butler County Junior College in El Dorado until she married Dale L. Schwindt in 1965. Their son Devin L. Schwindt was born in 1973. Years later she met and married Bobby Montgomery, a pilot for Beech Aircraft Company. They moved to Wichita where Barbara nurtured her blended family; two step daughters and her son.

Barbara’s career included being a legal secretary for The Butler County Attorney’s Office, Secretary at the Skelly Refinery in El Dorado, Boeing in Wichita, and 33 years at Beechcraft in Wichita. She was proud member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Wichita.

She is preceded in death by her father John L. Truskett in 1988. She is survived by her mother Leona, and step father John L. Kenney of El Dorado, a son Devin L. Schwindt of Wichita; grand- daughters Madison Schwindt and Cierra Ward of Wichita; a brother John D. Truskett and family of Tulsa, Oklahoma; niece Michelle Sloat and nephew John P. Truskett and family of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two step daughters Wendy and Holly of Ohio; three grand-nieces Amber, Sydney and Erin of Tulsa; one grand-nephew Logan Truskett of Tulsa; and one great grand-daughter Aurora Brooke of Wichita.

Barbara was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church on North Rock Road in Wichita. She treasured her many friends and touched many people’s hearts throughout her journey. She was a star in everyone’s eyes. She will be truly missed.

Services will be at Calvary United Methodist Church, Wichita, KS on Saturday, August 24th at 1:00 PM.
