Vera Marie Bentson

Bentson, Vera M., passed away August 15, 2011 at Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire, KS at the age of 100. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Reformation Lutheran Church on Saturday August 20th at 11 a.m.
Vera was born Feb. 16, 1911 in McPherson, KS to Elizabeth and Otto Carlson. She graduated from McPherson High School where she met her husband, Clarence. They were married September 11, 1932 and were blessed with four children. They spent most of their life on a farm in the New Gottland community northeast of
McPherson. They were very active in the New Gottland Lutheran Church for many years. Vera was a cook for several schools and later worked at Farmers Alliance
Ins. Co in McPherson.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 1977, her daughter Janet, and grandson, Thomas. She is survived by one sister, Esther, in Colorado;
brothers Arthur of Washington, Johnny of Pennsylvania; son Rodney and his wife Joan of Englewood, FL; son Larry and his wife Meredith of Gladstone, MO;
daughter Linnea and her husband Mac of Arlington, TX. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Brad Colburn and wife Nancy; Kerri Smith; Becky Weber and husband Luther; Chris Bentson and wife Dana; Laura Johnannes and husband Phil;
Brian Bentson; Judi Andersen and husband Jim; Susan Angvall and husband Peder; Lincoln Burke and wife Nicole. She is also survived by seventeen great
grandchildren: Jeff, Shaun and Joel Hastings, Julie and Joshua Smith; Paul and Tommy Weber; Campbell, Hunter and O`Malley Bentson; Jackson and Emma Johnannes; Grace and Jay Andersen; Kaitlyn and Caroline Angvall and Hannah Burke; and
three great-great grandchildren.
Vera found great joy and meaning in her family and her Christian faith. Her love for Jesus profoundly impacted the way she lived her life, touching so many
with her smile, optimism and caring heart.
