Ruth Wharton

Wharton, Ruth Thompson, age 91, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011. Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ben Wharton. Survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Boyce) Holloway, Salt Lake City, UT, Dianne (Jay) Zimmerman, Wichita, KS, Jennifer (Tim) Scanlan, Gold River, CA; five grandsons, Kirk Zimmerman, Kris Zimmerman, Erik Zimmerman, Jason Thomson, Brent Eighmey; seven great-grandchildren. Ruth applied her artistic talents as a versatile homemaker, floral designer and painter. In Wichita, Ruth was a member of P.E.O. and Book Marts book club and served as president of both. She owned a florist shop in New Orleans and later was active in the Bellevue, WA art community. Private service for family members. Ruth requested that remembrances be made as donations to the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67219.
