Douglas R. Wright, 56, Died January 25, 2011 after a nearly three-year battle with cancer.
He was survived by family who loved him dearly and many, many great friends.
Doug held a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1976 in the Army Corps of Engineers. He served in numerous assignments in the active and Army reserve until retirement. Subsequently, he enjoyed employment as a project manager at GLMV Architecture in Wichita, KS, until his passing.
Doug enjoyed life, always had a perpetual smile and thoroughly enjoyed people. He was an active member of his community and his church in Wichita. Doug asks you to grieve little and rejoice greatly in the knowledge that he goes to accept his eternal reward from God, our father, in heaven.
The Wright Family joins in a celebration of Doug’s life at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 29th, Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 6770 E. 34th. St., Wichita, followed with full Military Burial Honors at Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Victory in The Valley (a volunteer organization that supports individuals battling cancer), 3755 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67218, Risen Savior Lutheran Church and Botanica, The Wichita Gardens, 701 Amidon, Wichita, KS 67203.
